Funckenhausen La Espera Carpe Diem Reserva Chardonnay
Limited, small and discontinuous lots that embody the value of time in a product as special as this fresh chardonnay from southern Mendoza.
750 ml bottle. 100% Chardonnay from vineyard at San Rafael, Mendoza, Argentina, at 850 meters above sea level. pH 3.70. Acidity 5.90 g/l. Residual sugar 1.80 g/l. Alcohol 13.80 % vol. (75 cl Fr. 22.00, 1 L Fr. 29.33)
Harvest 2019: 92 points (Descorchados), 90 points (Tim Atkin). Ideal growing conditions in Mendoza, where Chardonnay benefited from excellent conditions. The freshness of this chardonnay with its slightly citrus aroma with herbal touches, increases on the palate as the acidity is the protagonist. A white wine both edgy and dense, with a soft fruity sweetness at the end.
Argentina is home to many German immigrants including the Funcke family who arrived to Mendoza in the late 1800s. Funckenhausen was founded by Kurt Heinlein at the foothills of the Andes mountains near the banks of the Diamante river. Quality and Excellence are the essential values of this venture and continue to be the values that represent his legacy. Patience and dedication blends in “La Espera” (“The Waiting”) wines.
